Dehydration

The Water of the Word

That He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That He might present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. (Ephesians 5:26-27 KJV)

Physical Dehydration

"Every life-giving and healing process that happens inside our body happens with water. Most experts insist that the majority of Americans are chronically under-hydrated and should drink more water, and the reasons behind their insistence are solid."

"Though everyone understands the vital importance of water, it is impossible to find solid information about dehydration statistics. On the Internet the consensus is that 75 percent of Americans are dehydrated but medical science does not weigh in on this statistic."

"We can assume that dehydration is a real problem, especially for those who believe that beverages like coffee and sodas can substitute for pure drinking water. Eating and drinking the wrong foods will lead to dehydration. Foods such as fruits and vegetables are supposed to provide 20 percent of our water intake – junk foods do little to help us remain fully hydrated." [1]

Symptoms of Physical Dehydration are Similar to Spiritual Dehydration

Mild to Moderate Dehydration:

• Dry, sticky mouth/Dry skin (Psalm 63:1)

• Sleepiness or tiredness (Isaiah 40:31)

• Thirst (Psalm 42:1)

• Few or no tears when crying (they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened. Mk 6:52)

• Headache (something that causes worry or difficulty)

• Constipation (a state in which the usual flow of something is blocked or obstructed)

Severe Dehydration:

• Irritability and confusion in adults

• Sunken eyes (affects vision) (Proverbs 29:18)

• Shriveled and dry skin that lacks elasticity and doesn't "bounce back"

• Low blood pressure (Affects the heart...the Blood flow is off)

• In the most serious cases, delirium or unconsciousness (unable to see, hear, or otherwise sense what is going on)

I would venture to say that more than 75% of Christians are spiritually dehydrated and the symptoms are all around us!

Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: and they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it. In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst. (Amos 8:11-13 KJV)

As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after Thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God. (Psalm 42:1 - 2 KJV)

O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; (Psalm 63:1 KJV)

Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst. Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it. And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled. (Isaiah 5:13-15 KJV)

Jesus Said...

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled. (Matthew 5:6 KJV)

Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. (John 4:13 - 4:14 KJV)

And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to Me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on Me shall never thirst. (John 6:35 KJV)

In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto Me, and drink. He that believeth on Me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. (John 7:37 - 7:38 KJV)

After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. (John 19:28 KJV)...Was Jesus physically thirsty or spiritually thirsty because for the first time He was being separated from His Father?

In the Last Days...

Thus saith the LORD that made thee, and formed thee from the womb, which will help thee; Fear not, O Jacob, my servant; and thou, Jesurun (a symbolic name for Israel, from upright), whom I have chosen. For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, and floods upon the dry ground: I will pour my spirit upon thy seed, and My blessing upon thine offspring: And they shall spring up as among the grass, as willows by the water courses. (Isaiah 44:2-4 KJV)

And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions: (Joel 2:28)

Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in His temple: and He that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more; neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes. (Revelation 7:15-17 KJV)

And He said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be My son.(Revelation 21:6 - 21:7 KJV)

Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. (Matthew 7:24-27 KJV)

What Should We Do?

Ask ye of the LORD rain in the time of the latter rain; so the LORD shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field. For the idols have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams; they comfort in vain: therefore they went their way as a flock, they were troubled, because there was no shepherd. Mine anger was kindled against the shepherds, and I punished the goats: for the LORD of hosts hath visited his flock the house of Judah, and hath made them as his goodly horse in the battle. (Zechariah 10:1-3 KJV)

If I shut up heaven that there be no rain, or if I command the locusts to devour the land, or if I send pestilence among my people; If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place. (2 Chronicles 7:13-15 KJV)

Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain. Be ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh. (James 5:7-8 KJV)

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Mat 11:28-30)

Why Is This So Important?

And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. (Dan 7:25)

If you do not want to be worn out and defeated then you better get hydrated with the Word of God and time in His presence!

Israel’s Military and its Advantage over Arab Armies in 1967

“One advantage Israel did have over its adversaries was its much better trained and prepared military personnel. Israel required all of its citizens to serve at least one tour of active duty in the military. After finishing their tour of duty, Israeli citizens are also required to serve in the reserves, which can be called up in times of national emergency.

Not only that, but Israel also developed strategies to keep their troops in top fighting shape, especially for the desert warfare they were likely to face. Proper hydration during road and desert marches were a crucial part of infantry training and far surpassed that of Egypt’s military, which had not yet grasped the importance of proper hydration in high heat environments.”

Israel not only trained and prepared their soldiers, but they also understood the importance of hydration. I read one account that stated that the Israeli soldiers were required to consume a large amount of water prior to going into battle so they would not start off with a deficiency. As the Egyptian soldiers collapsed on the battle field from dehydration, the Israeli soldiers stood strong! Lesson from this story….PREPARE FOR BATTLE!
